THE WELDING EXHIBITION A PLATFORM FOR INTERACTION AND PRODUCTIVE COOPERATION

On April 25, the official opening ceremony was held for the exhibition Svarka/Welding 2017. Over the course of many years, the event has been held on a biennial basis. Today, the industry is feeling the need to meet more frequently, using the convention-and-exhibition format as a platform for unification.

The official opening ceremony began with welcoming remarks by an advisor at the Department for Machine-Tool Engineering and Investment Machine-Building at the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vyacheslav Seluyanov.

“The technological process of welding owes its birth to several generations of Russian scientists. Our country is home to the discovery of the helical voltaic arc and the world’s-first mastery of metal welding. Today, welding technologies are used in most industrial sectors and form part of many production processes. It’s a priority area, particularly since it has a direct impact on the state of our machine-building complex. The international Svarka/Welding exhibition is a tremendous opportunity to become acquainted with the latest advancements in the field, share experience with foreign colleagues, and take part in discussions with leading experts. I wish participants and guests much success in expanding their business contacts and implementing their plans!” said Seluyanov.

“I should note that the exhibition has been complemented by a large contingent of our Chinese colleagues. The exhibition is highly relevant – the sector is actively expanding: we’ve got new technologies, new materials, and a different approach to organising work,” added Vadim Nasteka, Deputy Department Head at Gazprom PJSC. He also noted that the issues likely to be the most discussed within the scope of the exhibition would be those of import-substitution in the welding industry and the implementation of production innovations at Gazprom PJSC and the oil-and-gas industry as a whole.

ExpoForum International CEO Sergey Voronkov welcomed event participants and guests, noting that the exhibition was being held for the first time on even-numbered years. “In the previous procurement system, when innovations tended to emerge at a frequency of once every couple of years, there was no point to hold it more often. The situation has now changed, suppliers have turned over, cooperative chains have been added, and new, domestic products have started to emerge – including some unique ones: our open-air spaces feature a demonstration of a self-powered welding complex that has no comparables anywhere in the world. In response to your requests, we’ve also started offering an expanded convention format. I’m confident that this platform will help advance the forging of strong business alliances.”

The 18th International Exhibition Svarka/Welding has an updated format emphasising the business programme, the central feature of which is a discussion of strategies for the further development of the industry. The exhibition has attracted the interest of both related enterprises and potential equipment consumers. More than 100 companies from 8 countries around the world are presenting their cutting-edge technologies – and their experience in integrating them into welding production at industrial enterprises. This year, the Chinese are putting on a collective national stand, created with the support of the Chinese Mechanical-Engineering Society (CMES) and featuring the participation of 16 Asian companies.

“China is undergoing the rapid development of industrial production and machine-building. Welding is a key production technology. The Svarka/Welding exhibition is a platform for interaction and productive cooperation,” emphasised Miau Yuan, Consul for Science and Technology at the PRC General Consulate in St. Petersburg.

The French company Serimax, the world’s-largest partner-company in the area of pipeline welding, offers high-quality solutions for automatic and manual welding – both onshore, offshore in the most challenging conditions. At the exhibition, they showcased their CleverScan. It’s the optimal fast-yet-precise instrument for measuring the ovality of pipe, encompassing special software for the analysis of pipe connection and sorting. The device measures and models pipe ends and calculates the best option for their interface. In addition, the company’s stand offers the chance to take a look at the Saturnax 01 – an automatic welding machine designed for production projects. “The machine comes complete with an adjustable articulated clamping system and represents a product that’s suitable for pipes of all sizes. The radio control, combined with the convenient interface, means that operators only need a half-day to start efficiently using the welding machine; what’s more, the fact that it’s so lightweight provides an immediate improvement in working conditions,” explained a Serimax representative.

The standout debut of the year was the innovation by NPJSC URS-Integration – the Serial Self-Powered Laser-Welding Machine SALS-1, which is capable of handling production tasks in pipeline-construction conditions for enterprises in the oil-and-gas industry. It’s unique technology without comparables anywhere in the world for the welding of large-diameter pipe, based on fiberoptic lasers developed in Russia. SALS is capable of handling the construction of major pipelines – whether by the straightline-disarticulated method, or under construction with the welding of all seam layers at a single point. Other debuts include high-tech equipment for non-destructive testing and automatic welding from TKC Holding, and measurement systems for the quality-control of welding connections from MT-Solutions (Germany).

Also on hand to showcase its products was the Ryazan State Instrument-Making Enterprise, with a special focus on its FORSAZH welding machines, embodying all of the latest advancements in the field of inverter technologies. They’re economical machines with a wide array of functions, optimal welding-arc properties, and convenient operating characteristics. The equipment’s high level of quality and reliability is backed by the compulsory preliminary testing of new machines at the production site.
