By the 10th anniversary of the Convention and Exhibition Centre, pupils and teachers of the Engineering and Technology School No. 777 have created elegant figurines made of glass.

Engineering and Technology School No. 777 and the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre have been partners since 2023: there are interaction and cooperation between the organizations. Even before the agreements to be officially signed, during his visit to the school, Sergey Voronkov, General Director of EXPOFORUM International, was impressed by the fusing laboratory and the pottery workshop, where the exhibition of butterflies created by the schoolchildren was open at that time.

Since a butterfly is the symbol of EXPOFORUM, the idea of the joint project between EXPOFORUM International and ETS No. 777 was born: for the 10th anniversary of the Convention and Exhibition Centre, it was decided to produce glass light-winged beauties.

Over six months, pupils, school teachers and educators of the Centre for Additional Education have created 100 souvenir butterflies that will «fly away» to the Company’s friends and partners by the anniversary of EXPOFORUM.

Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg  introduced a number of amendments to the Master Plan in the second reading, one of which provides for construction of a metro station near the EXPOFORUM. The estimated term for the project implementation is 2040.

The amendment to the Master Plan was proposed by the deputy Dmitry Pavlov who was supported by people’s representatives.

The project involves construction of a metro line through the EXPOFORUM to the university campus of SPbU. Draft amendments have been published on the Legislative Assembly website.

Deputies of the local Legislative Assembly passed amendments in the final third reading to municipal law No. 221-47 dated May 13, 2009 “On Industrial Policy in St. Petersburg ”.

According to the amendments, a convention and/or exhibition event is an event held by a legal entity or an individual entrepreneur for whom the convention and/or exhibition activities are determined as core activities or one of the supplementary types of activities performed within the established time frames on specially prepared territories and/or capital construction facilities and in non-permanent buildings and structures in order to exchange knowledge and experience between representatives of the countries, economy branches, occupations or organizations, demonstrate and distribute goods (works, services) and/or information on them, seek the required development areas in the industrial sphere in St. Petersburg  and for cross-industry interaction.

Absolute Championship of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the largest world championship in Russia for athletes from all over the world, started on December 12 in pavilion F of the convention and exhibition center.

At the EXPOFORUM the competitions will be held from December 12 to December 15. Men, women and children from 5 years old participate in the championship. The event takes place on 14 mats (tatami). A team of judges includes 30 people. The winners of the tournament receive the official title of BJJ World Champion, as well as a monetary reward. Upon completion of the Championship principal part, Super fights will be organized between the winners, the best of the best will fight on the tatami!

The opening ceremony of the 33rd ZooShow exhibition took place on December 9! Honorary guests have appeased with a carrot a rabbit, a symbol of the leaving 2023, and a chameleon who was dressed up as a dragon, a symbol of the coming 2024, especially for the event.

“Over 20 thousand city residents and about 5 thousand our smaller brothers are taking part in the ZooShow exhibition. This is a holiday for the whole family, first of all, for children, as it is them that we get pets for,” Sergey Voronkov, General Director of the EXPOFORUM International, noted at the opening ceremony.

Honorary guests of the opening ceremony were: Irina Katser, President of the Varieta felinological club, Valeria Kotlyuba, organizer of the Way Back Home shelters festival. The event was also attended by Mikhail Tkachenko, Head of the Zooindustria and ZooShow project office.

This year the exhibition has been expanded and for the first time it takes place in two pavilions of the convention and exhibition center simultaneously. Another novelty is a new exhibition section – aquarium husbandry, where tens of aquarium fish types are presented: cichlids, bullheads, fighting fish, livebearers, goldfish and many more.

ZooShow is one of the Russian largest pet exhibitions: over 800 cats, more than 3,000 dogs, rodents, ferrets, rabbits, hedgehogs, insects, terrarium animals, decorative farm animals.

The exhibition visitors have a unique opportunity to get an individual consultation of specialists and to test water from own aquarium.

A large “Dinosaur World” reptile exposition, “Rodent Feast” exhibition, two expert ferret exhibitions, useful lectures, fascinating workshops, and entertainment for children are available for the guests of the Exhibition. ZooShow is a completely pet-friendly event opened for visiting with your pets.

A large multi-system cat show by 8 exhibition systems takes place as part of ZooShow on December 9 and 10. This is the first large-scale event waiting for the visitors.

The guests of the event will see an advertising and educational cat and dog show “ZooPlanet – Looking for a Friend”, where puppies and kittens are presented and consultations are given on taking care of pets depending on the breed, age, temper, activity and even on the family structure.

ZooShow. Winter-2023 started at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Center on December 8. The former Austrian politician Karin Kneissl and her dogs became one of the first guests.

The former minister brought two boxers to the EXPOFORUM. The name of the boy is Winston Churchill, the name of the girl is Jackie. These are the very dogs who met the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at Kneissl’s wedding in 2018.

Karin took her pets from the animal shelter. The same opportunity is provided to each visitor of ZooShow. At the Way Back Home shelters festival one can be given assistance in adopting a four-legged friend and will be provided with full information on the specifics of its housing and training.

Breed rings are also held at the exhibition. Kneissl and Churchill went along the main one.

“I have never been to such shows before. I liked ZooShow a lot. I could even find new toys, healthy feedstuff and warm clothes for my dogs,” the former minister said.

According to Kneissl, her boxers tolerate the Russian winter well. They are very adaptable and can adapt themselves to any weather conditions. After warm Lebanon the dogs were a bit surprised, but now everything is Ok.

“In Russia people are kind to dogs and pets in general. This is quite different from Austria and other European countries, where animals are called climate killers. Here everybody is very friendly even in big cities and it is much easier to live with dogs,” Kneissl noted.

Karin herself likes real winter as well.

“The weather is fine. There is no strong wind and storms. I am glad to see the real winter, a part of the Russian culture and national character. Every time Russia is mentioned, everybody imagine just such winter and not summer heat,” told Kneissl.

At ZooShow the former Austrian minister of foreign affairs has also visited the novelty of the season – the aquarium husbandry zone. Karin is constructing a house in the Ryazan region and dreams of arranging a big aquarium with fish there.

Kneissl moved to Petersburg in September 2023. The former politician became the head of the G.O.R.K.I center of St. Petersburg  State University.

This was reported by Sergey Voronkov, General Director of the EXPOFORUM International, President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, at the press conference devoted to Petersburg International Tourist Forum Travel Hub. “Go Travelling!”.

“The share of business tourism is 12 % of the total tourist flow in St. Petersburg . It provides for almost 40 % of the entire industry income, aligns seasonality, increases investment attractiveness of the destination, involves scientific and business elite, generates tourist traffic and loads the whole tourist infrastructure,” Sergey Voronkov noted.

According to the data of a tourist barometer, in 2023 Petersburg will host 1.2 mln business tourists. 20 % growth as compared to the last year. This is explained by the similar growth of all major convention and exhibition events. St. Petersburg  International Economic Forum, St. Petersburg  International Legal Forum, St. Petersburg  International Gas Forum, Neva International Shipbuilding Exhibition and other projects have in average hosted by 20 % more visitors.

According to Sergey Voronkov, at the Travel Hub. “Go Travelling!” forum two thematic blocks are dedicated to the development of business tourism, and, in particular, to the increasingly popular industrial tourism. He also underlined that 6 excursions to industrial enterprises visited by more than 200 people were presented at the Forum-Exhibition “Russian Industrialist” that was held last week at THE EXPOFORUM, “This area has broad development prospects,” the speaker expressed his confidence.

The press conference was also attended by Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia (online), Sergey Korneev, Chair of the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development, Aleksandr Stuglev, Chair of the Management Board, Director of the Roscongress Foundation, Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (online).

“New Year Present” exhibition takes place at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Center from December 7 to 10.
