Digital technologies for pensioners. Use it

Experts discussed how information technologies can improve the efficiency and convenience of life for older people on October 11 at the strategic session “Age and Progress: Opportunities of Digital Time for Social Care in St. Petersburg”. The event took place within the International Forum “Senior Generation” at Expoforum.

“The Internet has brought humanity to a completely new level of communication. The more digital products, the more convenient our life,” noted Dmitry Buinevich, Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee on Social Policy, in his welcoming speech to the event participants.

The expert also spoke on the city’s strategy for the digital transformation of sectors of the economy, social sphere and public administration and presented the project “Social Treasury of St. Petersburg”, aimed at improving the quality, accessibility and transparency of the provision of public services, reducing the time of applicants’ anticipation when receiving public services, for example, in case of a child birth or retirement.

“Elderly citizens are the most engaged audience on the Gosuslugi portal,” emphasized Lyubov Tokareva, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Informatization and Communications. “Our mission is to be useful to this audience, to show and convey to them the positive experience of senior people’s interaction in the digital world”.

According to the deputy chairman, 1.8 million people are users of the St. Petersburg Gosuslugi portal. They have access to 300 online services, 66 services in the social sphere and 25 services for the disabled. For the older generation, a special section “Health Care” has been created on the portal, containing information about free dental prosthetics, drug provision, high-tech medical care and medical certificates.

Head of the Department of International Activities and Public Projects of the Russian Clinical and Research Center of Gerontology of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia Dmitry Buinevich presented to the audience the project of an aggregator of services for the elderly “Age Online”. Once launched, the portal will enable to receive online recommendations on medical care, social services and active longevity. For example, if a person has memory problems, the system will suggest a specific medical facility and specialist to contact.

The benefits, discounts and bonus systems of the Unified St. Petersburg Card were presented by Evgenia Petrachkova, Deputy Director of the St. Petersburg State Public Institution “Information Support Center”.

The “Senior Generation” Forum will be held at Expoforum from October 11 to 13. During the event, free shuttle buses run from the Moskovskaya metro station to the convention and exhibition center.
